Community & Conservation
We are passionate about conservation and believe in offering more than just a luxurious stay. We realize that to create an exceptional safari experience, we need to integrate our camp with the community and with conservation. These three form an integral part of who we are and what we do.
We understand the importance of having a balanced ecosystem and have aligned our sustainable aspects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Our key pillars are education, employment and environment. We support the local Maasai boys and girls by providing them with the requirements they need to get good quality education. These are the conservationists of tomorrow who will ensure continuity by protecting and safeguarding what we now have. By providing them with the books and required reading materials we ensure that they have a better future.
We support the local Maasai women and help them earn a living by selling unique hand-made beaded items in our gift shop. Each of the beaded items tells the story of a local Maasai family. Woven into the beaded bracelet, belt or neckpiece is the determination to provide basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. Your purchase helps increase their source of income and provides them with a better life.
All these activities cannot take place without a proper environment. We value the greater Mara and we aim to conserve and protect the area we inhabit. By planting trees around the camp and extending the exercise beyond, we want to rewild the area while offsetting our guests’ carbon footprint.
